Puppy in the Park

The goal of this piece was to successfully integrate 3D tracked footage and an animated character. The animation and character was provided. I went out and shot my own footage. I laid out my own UV's, textured, lit and composited the puppy into my footage. Below is the final result. Below that is a breakdown of the various layers I used to render and composite my puppy. For a more day to day look into my process here is a link to the blog I kept.

Process:

This is a playblast of the original animation from the files that where provided.

This is a quick set up of what I was invisioning for my puppy to be in based off of his animation. I wanted him to stand up on a park bench and then jump off the side of the bench. I also thought of this scenario for him because I knew the park would be an interesting place to integrate something and had many benches for me to choose from depending on what angle I wanted for my final shot.

This is the footage that I took at the park. When I got there I tried out a few different anlges but I settled on this one due to I would be able to have the puppy take up most of the frame and not have a lot of empty space.

Final Textures and Bump Map

The first shot showcases all my textures that I worked on. I aded a fur texture over his exisitng texture to make him feel more realisitic. I also created a texture for his eyes to help make him feel more realistic. I then added a ramp to his nose to create variation in the color so when I rendered you could see his nostrils a bit clearer. I also only had a slight bump map for the fur and a strong bump map for his nose. I also added a pink subsurface layer to help with making the inside of his ears feel more soft and realistic.
